Game Changers in Dog Training
Aynslie Goldsmith
November 2023
Aynslie has been a member of Horowhenua Obedience Dog Training Club Inc for around 30 years. She has competed in obedience competitions at times, although only in the local area, so she is not widely known outside of lower Central Region area.
Aynslie is not a top obedience competitor, nor a Judge on the obedience panel, nor a Representative at Region level. However it is Aynslie’s attitude and willingness to help and assist with anything that needs to be done – be it within the club, on our show days or anything she can help with, that is the reason for her nomination.
Aynslie has been on the Horowhenua Obedience Dog Training Club’s committee for the majority of her time with the club and was made a life member in 2018. She has filled a lot of different positions, most recently taking over the role of Treasurer, even though she is not experienced with using a computer nor with financial transactions, Aynslie saw a need so in typical style she filled it.
Aynslie has judged and stewarded many Elementary classes at our shows and Instructed our Domestic dog training, often taking two or three classes a week when we were short of instructors, and always with a smile and a lovely attitude.
A little while back I was rung for a reference for Aynslie for a position of running a child care group for a local church. I was asked what is Aynslies best attribute – I said ‘she is willing and friendly’. I was then asked what is her worse attribute – again I answered ‘she is willing and friendly’ – to the point that she lets people take advantage of her as if she can help she will.
